Litigation of the Century

I am glad to be invited to be an Expert Witness in the lawsuit over the multi-billion dollar assets left by Asia's richest woman Nina Wang (Little Sweetie).

The duties of an expert witness are to provide independent assistance to the court by way of objective unbiased opinion in relation to matters within his expertise. An expert witness has an overriding duty to the court and is not an advocate to any party.

The media wrongly assumed that because I was retained by the lawyers of the Defendant, I would be fighting a battle with the expert witness (about Fung Shui issues) retained by the lawyers of the Plaintiff. I don't blame them as their intention is to make it dramatic to attract more readership.

This case is the first one that involves the practice of Feng Shui (Fung Shui). When the case is over, I will share my experience with my friends in this blog.

Hi Master Yu,

Congrats on being appointed despite so many reputed HK masters available. Looking forward to your experience.

Cheers

Hi Leegiat,

One newspaper mentioned that Tony Chan approached some HK masters first but they all refused to be his expert witness. That is why he asked someone in Canada.

Well, either these HK masters misunderstand the judicial system or the journalist made it up from nothing.

Tony Chan never contacted me and we do not know each other. One barrister approached me and explained clearly that my position would have to be independent and unbiased.

This is why I wanted to work with Mr. Szeto with the common goal of assisting the court to understand issues concerning feng shui.

Hi Master Yu,

Appreciated your reply,

‘The duties of an expert witness are to provide independent assistance to the court by way of objective unbiased opinion in relation to matters within his expertise. An expert witness has an overriding duty to the court and is not an advocate to any party.’

This has already summarized your stand on metaphysics. I assume that Tony Chan is a Mao Shan practioner with fengshui knowledge. Maybe it is because of this background, a few of these masters would not want to risk their reputation or anything else to get involved.

Anyway. ‘Man proposes, Heaven disposes’.

Still looking forward to your experience in this interesting saga, maybe we would finally have a so called fengshui expert in the Forbes list for Billionaire, ha-ha……….

For readers unaware of what’s happening, a news report on 15 Apr 2009.

‘A supernatural element has surfaced in the battle for the fortune of late billionaire Nina Wang Kung Yu-sum

‘Szeto said the 2006 will in Chan's possession was supposed to be destroyed to ensure prosperity for an individual, and the fact it is still around could mean that "a fung shui master used unscrupulous methods to keep what was not supposed to be kept."

The foundation has a 2002 will bequeathing Wang's estate, believed to be worth up to HK$100 billion, to the charity and family members. Chan's version leaves everything to him.

Chan's legal team interpreted Szeto's report as a new, serious and unfair allegation. Senior counsel Edward Chan King-sang told Justice Johnson Lam Man-hon he believed the foundation was attempting to charge Tony Chan with fraud through the back door.’

Till then, cheerio!!!

Dear Master Yu,

I am writing to you as a keen learner of this fascinating ancient art and science. It might not have anything to do with this topic, but I hope seek your views and opinion on what I have to share.

It saddens me to hear and see such unethical practices happening associating with the Feng Shui industry. Today, the industry is filled with many money-minded practitioners claiming lineage bearer, slandering other masters or simply not up to standard to be called a master.

In your opinion as an industry senior and academician, what can to be done in order for this industry to move away from such negative association with superstition and myth and attain a more respectable status with other study in the main stream education?

With so many self-proclaimed masters out there today, in your opinion, what really constitutes a truly skilled and knowledgable practitioner before he or she can be truly called a Master?

Regards,
Chris
